Access to the White Rock Lake will be closed this Sunday until 4:15pm, due to the Dallas Marathon. Accordingly, races this Sunday have been cancelled.

CSC’s annual awards banquet was held at Maggino’s last night. The food, drink and program were all outstanding. Fleet highlights and winning sailors were presented by fleet captains. Mark Mihm, CSC Commadore, presented the annual awards to the following:

Sailing for Polar Bears (aka Sailing for Rhinos in the past) is here. It is a fund raising event sponsored by the Dallas Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK). All proceeds from this event will go towards "Trees for You and Me" in partnership with Polar Bears International. Check calendar event page here for more info.

Our Vice Commodore, Anderson Jones, has been working since late last year to clean up the burgee display in the CSC clubhouse. He has collected additional burgees from traveling club member and visitors and burgees exchanges with other clubs. Anderson is amassing quite a collection. We currently have burgees from 24 clubs in Texas, 4 from collage sailing programs, 52 from clubs in other states and 9 from clubs in other countries.

Houston Brown, an outstanding local photographer, has taken a lot of drone video of White Rock Lake and CSC events. Here is a short video clip that he put together this week that shows the iced over lake, park and sailing clubs. It is beautiful and interesting. Take a look and enjoy. Jim O'Connor pulled this image off the CSC harbor cam feed about 5pm on Thursday, February 17, 2021. This is after 100+ hours of sub-freezing temps. There are probably a couple more days before the temperature gets above freezing.
