The COVID-19 virus, aka novel coronavirus, started in China in January 2020 and spread into a worldwide pandemic by March. Businesses, schools, churches, sports…were shutdown and people were asked to stay at home unless it was absolutely necessary to go out. CSC suspended activities starting in mid-March. All organized racing and other activities at CSC were put on hold. The park department prohibited on-the-water activities for a while. Restrictions started to be relaxed in May and the club, working with the park department, hopes to restart activities in early June.

Format and dates for Adult Sailing Classes have changed. Sessions are set to start on June 4 and June 16. It is possible that either class may be delayed. Ellen Bryant will let you know if there is a change. The classes are full for both sessions, but you may join the wait list. More information and registration are available on the Adult Sailing page.

The 2020 club and race year was set to get underway the weekend of April 18-19. The virus put the quash on this. Spruce Up and Splash days have been postponed.

We cleanup and fix-up the club on Saturday Spruce Up Day. There will be jobs available for all skill levels. This a great opportunity to get some of your service hours in.

The Splash Day festivities generally follow the races on Sunday.

More info will be available on both day's activities in the near future.

It is that time of year again - time to renew your CSC club membership. You should have received an email providing a link for renewal. Renewal can be completed online and needs to be completed by April 1.

The initial cut at race duty assignments has been made by your fleet race officer working with the VC Race. They are posted on the Race Duty Schedule page. Note that you can use the filter at the top of the page to focus on the entries that you are interested in. Remember that it is your responsibility to find a replacement if you are not available for you assigned dates. Please coordinate these changes with your fleet race officer.

The Sunday Racing Program Sailing Instructions have been updated to correspond to current practice that we are seeing used at other sailing clubs. The new SIs will be be used for races starting on April 5, 2020. The Race Management page provides a summary of the changes and the revised SIs.

Special Olympics athlete Tyler Dodson with CSC member Roland Foerster as his crew came back from Abu Dhabi with a silver medal! After four qualifying races they were ranked 2nd to a tough Belgian team and were placed in the top division. The finals consisted of 8 races. The Belgians dominated for the gold, but Tyler and Roland held off...
