Lake and CSC Championship Regattas 2006

Race Result Date

Mark Babb wins the 2006 CSC and Lake Championships. September 23, 2006

After a relatively short postponement for the storm that came through around 11:30AM, we went out and got one race off and came in for lunch. Bob Manning got “stiffed” for a lunch – the count was short, I don’t know who else went hungry, but maybe 1 or 2 others as well. We probably should have put it in the SI’s that lunch would be provided and taken a count – idea for next year!

We then went out and did 5 more races, changing boats at the dock

Mark Babb 1,1,1,1,1,3 for 8 points

Paul Dennison 2,3,2,2,2,2 for 13 points

Gene Soltero 4,2,3,5,5,1 for 20 points

Kelly Gough 3,4,5,4,4,4 for 24 points
(Gavin Rudolph substituted for the last race)

Bruce Faust 5,5,4,3,3,5 for 25 points

Beth Richard 6,6,6,6,6,6 for 36 points

The wind ranged from maybe 5-7 MPH up through 15-18 at times ranging from say 340 to 20 degrees. We ran a variety of races W2, T2 (twice), G (twice) and an O for the finale. Once the storm blew through, it was a great day for sailing. Beth Richard gets the “real trooper” award with several opportunities to test the water temperature, and she always came back for more! She was joined along the way by Gene Soltero, Bruce Faust and maybe one other as well.

John Diggins and Bob Manning were on one mark boat and David Butler with Gavin Rudolph were on the other. After Bob Manning went foraging for food, Bruce Moore came in to help John. Mike Rist helped me out on the RC boat. Several members of the Laser fleet were all there in the morning to assist in launching boats, etc and to see that all went well.
