CSC Sailors Win Silver Medal at Special Olympics World Games

Special Olympics athlete Tyler Dodson with CSC member Roland Foerster as his crew came back from Abu Dhabi with a silver medal! After four qualifying races they were ranked 2nd to a tough Belgian team and were placed in the top division. The finals consisted of 8 races. The Belgians dominated for the gold, but Tyler and Roland held off a push from the Netherlands team to win the silver medal. They sailed in a Laser Bahia, which is a 2 or 3 person dinghy that is used mainly in Europe. The venue was the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yacht Club, which provided a great setting for 6 days of races.

Roland had a great writeup on the World Games website. Also, for the closing ceremonies, instead of having all of the athletes parade into the stadium, 2 athletes and 1 Unified Partner from each country were selected to march in; Roland was chosen as the Unified Partner representative for the US team.
